The first round of the 2017 NFL Draft is officially in the books. If day one is any indication of what the next seven rounds will be like, everyone is in for a wild ride. While the draft doesn’t usually seem to live up to the hype, this year is different. With a number of interesting players and storylines to keep an eye on, the first round was both intense and intriguing. Here are some of the most interesting things that happened in round one.
Myles Garrett Picked Number One Overall
With the first overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns selected Myles Garrett. To most experts, Garrett was the best player in the draft and the consensus top pick. With this selection, the Browns are getting a physical presence on the defensive line capable of wreaking havoc on opposing offenses. Last season at Texas A&M, Garrett had 33 tackles, 15 tackles for a loss and 8.5 sacks. There are, however, some questions about him. NFL scouts have cited his effort and commitment to football as potential issues. Questions aside, if the Browns can maximize Garrett’s abilities, they will have a great player.
