Troubled Players Go Back To Back
For all the negative hype surrounding Gareon Conley and Jabrill Peppers, it didn’t seem to impact their draft stock much. In fact, Conley and Peppers were chosen back to back. The Raiders took Conley at 24th overall, and the Browns chose Peppers at 25th overall. These were two of the most talked about players leading up the draft, both for negative reasons. Conley was recently accused of sexual assault, and Peppers failed a drug test due to a diluted sample at the NFL combine. Both players had spotless records before their respective incidents occurred, this may have helped ease some of the doubts of their new teams. It will be interesting to see where other players with off the field issues such as Joe Mixon get taken now that the first round is over.
